About the event
The St. Charles Lwanga Center has moved!
Join us for a Prayer Service & New Site Blessing, March 29.
St. Charles Lwanga Center’s origins can be traced to 1977, when North St. Louis Parish pastors set their sights on developing a retreat experience and other spiritual formation programs where Black men, women and youth would be comfortable in deepening their faith, alongside programs to help Black Catholics address problems they were encountering in their daily lives.
In 1979, with permission and encouragement from His Eminence John Joseph Cardinal Carberry, the six parishes of Most Holy Rosary, St. Matthews, Blessed Sacrament, St. Mark, St. Barbara, and St. Rose, began plans for what would become the Center.
Join us as we continue the legacy and begin a new chapter for this house of spirituality and leadership formation created to provide Catholics of the St. Louis area an opportunity to share and affirm their unique spiritual experience as Black and Catholic in today’s world.
